YORK was a "tasty place to enjoy the sunshine" over the weekend as residents flocked to the International Food Market.

More than 40 traders set up their stalls in Parliament Street to serve fresh food and unique crafts from around the world.

Chris Price, head of city centre and markets at Make It York, said: "The weather at the weekend brought the crowds out and both Shambles Market and the International Market were popular with people enjoying the sunshine.

“With foods of the world in Shambles Food Court complemented by even more culinary treats from across the globe, York was a tasty place to enjoy the sunshine at the weekend. The international market has been really popular with visitors and residents alike offering a variety of foods from different countries such as churros and meats from Spain, Greek olives, Jamaican jerk chicken, and French patisserie."

He added it was "great to have something new and different in the city".
