TWO police officers and a teenage girl were allegedly assaulted after a violent incident broke out in a York village yesterday (May 12).
North Yorkshire Police said an off-duty police officer intervened in the incident, which took place outside Wigginton Village Stores just before 7pm, and involved a 14-year-old girl and a 53-year-old woman.
It confirmed that a woman was arrested and has been charged with assault by beating and assaulting two emergency workers.
One was an off-duty police officer who was passing by at the time and the other was an on-duty police officer who had responded to the incident, the force added.
It said the woman has been released on conditional bail and is due at York Magistrates’ Court next month.
