ABOVE And Below, Suzanne McQuade's watercolour exhibition at Village Gallery, Colliergate, York, will run from May 21 to July 6.
Suzanne, from Leeds, is passionate about watercolours and how this medium’s translucency allows light to flood into her landscapes and seascapes. "Using watercolours is like teamwork," she says. "I have to allow the watercolour to move and merge and then utilise the patterns it creates."
Suzanne’s inspiration comes from the diversity of the British countryside and coast, prompting her to paint what she finds captivating, from a dramatic sky to underwater rocks.
An exhibition preview will be held on Monday, May 20 when Suzanne will be on hand from 5pm to 8pm to discuss her work; tickets can be obtained by applying to Simon Main at Village Gallery on 01904 411444 or via village-gallery.co.uk.
Opening hours are 10am to 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and at other times by arrangement. Village Gallery hosts exhibitions of both 2Dand 3D art, predominantly of work by Yorkshire artists, that run back to back for around six weeks.
