TURNOUT at City of York Council's local elections is provisionally at 40.7 per cent - which is higher than previous local election turnout according to a council spokesman.
The first results of yesterday's poll are due to be declared at about midday today (Friday), when eight council wards are set to be announced.
These include Micklegate, which is currently held by Labour councillor Jonny Crawshaw, independent Johnny Hayes who is not standing again and Green councillor Lars Kramm, who is standing in Copmanthorpe.
Other wards set to be announced in the first declarations are Haxby and Wigginton, Dringhouses and Woodthorpe, Fulford and Heslington, Copmanthorpe, Holgate, Fishergate and Osbaldwick and Derwent.
