A FAMILY fun day will be held tomorrow to raise awareness of the decline of a woodland animal.
Hedgehog Awareness Day will be held at Beetle Bank Children's Farm in Murton Lane, York, on Saturday, May 4, between 10am and 4pm.
Annette Pyrah, who runs The Wildlife Orphanage in Barlby, said the event will be run in partnership with Hedgehog Hospital, and the British Hedgehog Preservation Society.
She said: "Hedgehogs are the nation’s favourite mammal but sadly this enchanting little creature is rapidly declining.
"As well as all the fun of the farm, children can take part in lots of arts and crafts activities, each with a hedgehog theme whilst adults can guess the name of a giant hedgehog to win fabulous hedgehog goodies including a super hedgehog house.
"There will also be lots of information on ways you can create a wildlife garden and help save our native hedgehogs."
