A JUNIOR football team in York has been sponsored by a local housebuilder.

York-based Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has donated tracksuits to Hamilton Panthers FC, for the team’s Under-11s to wear.

A total of 23 boys have benefitted from the tracksuits – officially handed out at the club’s home ground, Little Knavesmire Sports Pavilion - helping to keep the team dry and warm during training sessions throughout the year.

There is a strong Barratt connection to the club. Retired construction director, Peter Douglass, and technical co-ordinator, Andrew Tute, have their grandchildren and children registered on the books.

Located near David Wilson Homes’ The Chocolate Works development, Hamilton Panthers currently caters for ages between six and 16.

Barry Casterton, president of Hamilton Panthers FC, said: “We are very grateful for Barratt Developments’ generous sponsorship towards our Under-11s team.

“I’m sure the tracksuits will be put to great use by all of the boys. We encourage anyone interested in playing for our club to get in touch as we’re always looking to improve and connect with the local community.”
