A YORK church will echo to the sound of Welsh as the Cymanfa Ganu comes to the city.
St Edward the Confessor on Tadcaster Road, Dringhouses, will be the venue for the Yorkshire and the North East Welsh Hymn-Singing Festival.
Called Cymanfa Ganu, it will feature two services with more than three hours of distinctly Welsh worship.
International soprano Yvonne Robert, originally from Prestatyn, will be the star singer and the organist will be Michael Hay.
About 80 Welsh hymn lovers are expected to travel from Newcastle, Nottingham, Manchester, Hull, Leeds and elsewhere for the event on May 11.
Most of the hymns will be sung in Welsh, but the spoken parts of the service will be bi-lingual.
The services will be from 2pm to 3.30pm and from 4.45pm to 6.30pm.
