FROM ground-breaking flower graffiti to the ultimate in urban planting, Harrogate Spring Flower Show is promoting petal power to transform Britain’s grey streets.

The theme of this year’s show, which starts on Thursday, April 25, is #kerbcouture.

Teams from florists around the county will be introducing a flash of floral inspiration to urban scenes to illustrate the benefits of bringing horticulture to the streets.

Show director Nick Smith said: “We wanted to show how even in the smallest of spaces or bleakest of backyards flowers and plants can thrive and make a difference.

“And where no plants can grow, there’s always floral wall art.”

Continuing the urban theme, the show also boasts a mural artist, breakdancers and gutter gardening ideas, as well as the usual talks, demos, food and kids’ activities.

The show is at the Great Yorkshire Showground and runs until Sunday.

Tickets available on the gate. See flowershow.org.uk for full details.
