TWO local authors will delve into the past as part of the celebrations to mark the 950th anniversary of the founding of Selby Abbey.

Novelist Simon Turney, who has a particular focus on Roman fiction, and Sharon Bennett Connolly, whose latest book features Matilda of Flanders, will talk about their inspirations and links to Selby.

The event takes place at Selby library on Friday, May 3, from 6.30-8.30pm. Tickets cost £5 from the library or by calling 01609 354 521.
