YORK’S small, independent traders have gained recognition at a ‘micro-business breakfast’ at the Mansion House.
Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) members representing a variety of sectors in the city attended the breakfast, held by Lord Mayor, Cllr Keith Orrell.
The networking event celebrated the important contribution made by York’s micro-businesses - businesses with fewer than nine employees and independent traders - to the economic vitality of the city.
Attendees were also able to offer their views about doing business in the city to representatives from City of York Council (CYC).
FSB regional development manager Carolyn Frank said: “This was a great opportunity. We often hear of the highs and lows of larger businesses in the city and it is wonderful to hear from the smallest businesses too.”
Regional chairman Simon Williams added: “We are grateful to the Lord Mayor for the kind invitation and look forward to working with the council to improve services for all businesses.”
