LLANDUDNO’s Miss Alice has seen her name unveiled on the honorary Miss Alice board in the Town Hall.

Cllr David Hawkins, the Mayor, invited Carys Lambe the current Miss Alice and her family to the ceremony. Carys, aged 9 is a pupil at Ysgol San Sior.

He said: “It's been a fantastic year, and she has worked so hard at all the different engagements she has done, and carried them out with great panache. She has been a credit to her family, school and the town.

“Carys has done so much, starting the Boxing Day dip, travelled to our twinned town Wormout in France, judged dog competitions, gave many speeches and sang beautifully on one or two occasions, took part in Remembrance services and has marched through the town, visited the blind veterans and St David's hospice and will soon be taking part in the Victorian Extravaganza and one of her final commitments will be to take part in a special trip arranged with The Great Orme Exploration Society to go deep into the Great Orme and see some of its hidden tunnels and caves. The event has been entitled Alice goes underground.”

The Miss Alice 2019-20 competition is now open to select the next Miss Alice and the town council is seeking entrants. The competition is open to all girls aged between eight and 10 years old and living in the five wards of Llandudno. The duties of Miss Alice include attendance at civic occasions and guest appearances at other events, and on occasion undertake visits out of the area to promote Llandudno and the towns Alice in Wonderland connection.
