VISITORS to Ripon’s Tree Top Nets adventure venue are jumping at the chance to enjoy the UK’s biggest attraction of its kind.

Situated at the Lightwater Valley theme park, Tree Tops has reopened after being closed during the winter months and, with its 2,000 square metres of trampolines, walkways, slides and tunnels – all made of netting suspended high above the ground - it represents a fun and energetic way to spend two hours of quality family time together.

With organisers stating that the nets should be enjoyed by anybody aged between three and 103, safety is also guaranteed as, unlike traditional high-ropes courses, participants are completely surrounded by three-metre high walls of netting, which means harnesses aren’t required.

The setting, meanwhile, amid mature, native woodland, provides stunning views over North Yorkshire, which can be admired during a break from bouncing up to 12m above ground level.

Split into different sections, younger guests have an area of their own, away from the more exuberant children and adults, where they can trampoline and slide down a hole inside a sack to protect from rope burns.

There is also a slide zone for older visitors with four holes presenting ample opportunity for family races, whilst an area filled with exercise balls is one of the most popular activities.

Like a super-sized ball pit, we had great fun on our visit after a member of staff demonstrated how to crowd surf like a super hero over them.

Football posts have been erected too for anybody that wants to attempt a kick around.

Even exiting the Nets is a blast, as you bounce high with Kangaroo-style leaps down the long, narrow passageway that represents the springiest part of the site.

For adults, certainly in their mid-40s like myself, a couple of hours in the Nets also serves as a genuine workout.

But, equally, if you’d rather just have a coffee and a sandwich from the adjacent café, which offers an outside viewing area with benches, the kids can burn off plenty of energy on their own and make new friends without the need for participating adult supervision unless they are under the age of six.

Qualified instructors are on hand at all times too.

Ripon is Tree Top Nets only Yorkshire location, adding to a portfolio that also includes venues at Windermere and Manchester.

The cost for adults and children aged five or older is £20.

For children aged three to four and adult supervisors the charge is £13 each.
