A CARE HOME has taken on the highs and lows of the North Yorkshire Moors to help raise money for a sick child.

Staff members at Hambleton Grange in Thirsk completed a 3 and a half mile journey last month around Kilburn to raise money for Freddie Thompson, who was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma last summer.

Lifestyle Manager, Nicola Clark, led the fundraising said: “We met at the White Horse in Kilburn and the weather really wasn’t on our side. It was blowing a gale along the tops but the thought of Freddie kept us going and we knew that we had to finish the walk for him.

“It is great that so many members of our team wanted to be involved, and anyone who couldn’t make the walk sponsored us. Being part of something like things brings our community together and I feel proud that we have done our best for Freddie.”

The home managed to raise a total of £608.94 and chief executive, Matt Lowe, has pledged to match this total in order to raise further funds for Freddie.

Mr Lowe said: “I am very proud of everyone at Hambleton Grange. They are a dedicated team and a real attribute to the company.”
