EMERGENCY services were called to the River Ouse in York.
North Yorkshire Police were contacted by a member of the public who had "concerns for an intoxicated woman near Scarborough Bridge", at about 6.40pm on Tuesday.
A spokesman for York Rescue Boat said "the team was placed on immediate standby to assist North Yorkshire Police with an ongoing incident", but stood down before attending at the advice of police.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "Police officers attended to make sure she was safe, and returned her home to her family."
