A VAN is believed to have been torched in a village near York early this morning.
Fire crews from York and Huntington were called at around 3.10am to a report of a fire sighted in Gate Helmsley.
When the crews arrived, they found this to be a fire to a large Ford Transit van.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It’s believed to have deliberately been set alight."
Crews put the fire out using a hose reel jet and a set of breathing apparatus.
