A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in York following a violent incident on a bus.
The incident happened in Acomb at around 1pm today.
North Yorkshire Police said they were called to the bus and subsequently arrested the boy. He is currently in custody whilst enquiries continue.
In a statement the force said: "Officers are appealing for witnesses and information about the incident.
"In particular, officers would like two women, believed to have been mother and daughter, who got off the bus on York Road in Acomb shortly before police attended, to contact the police to help them with their enquiries.
"Anyone with any information is asked to dial 101, press 1 and pass information on the force control room. Please quote reference number 12190068390."
