YORK primary school pupils put their start-up skills to the test when they presented business ideas to a panel of banking experts.
The children from Haxby Road Primary visited the city centre NatWest to present their ideas in a Dragons Den-style competition, supported by employee volunteering charity York Cares.
Four teams of youngsters each set up a themed cafe, with the winner receiving a "cheque" for £1 million.
Classroom-based sessions saw them learn about different aspects of banking, including interest rates and business plans, before their visit to the bank, where they were given the chance to put forward their ideas for attracting new business.
Class teacher Rachel Malster-Hinett added: "The children had a detailed tour of the branch and got to hold huge coin bags, a memory they will always remember and treasure."
