A TEAM from a York solicitors are taking part in a challenge this weekend for a women's charity.

Ware & Kay Solicitors will be taking on the Gung-ho challenge on Saturday (April 13) to raise money for the Kyra Women’s Project based in York.

The team of 29 is made up of staff from offices based in York, Wetherby & Malton, family members and friends. The route is 5K long and they will tackle some of the largest inflatable objects ever designed.

Kyra, which means “strong woman” in Slavonic, is the brainchild of Yvonne Copley and provides a space where women can go for advice or just breathing space.

It supports women to help them overcome challenges to make changes in their lives.

Yvonne Copley CEO at Kyra said: “Kyra is a supportive, friendly place aiming to help women from all backgrounds. Someone may be new to a city, have suffered a bereavement, are going through a divorce, or are just finding life difficult at the moment. This is where we step in and provide encouragement, companionship and information. We offer various activities such as self-esteem and assertiveness groups, run training sessions in IT, creative writing as well as craft groups and gardening. We also run courses to support women moving on from domestic violence and equip them with alternative ways of coping and of changing their lives for the better. This will be a tough challenge but great fun and it’s great that so many people have put themselves forward. We are incredibly grateful for all the support Ware & Kay are providing.’

Holly Stevens, residential property solicitor at Ware & Kay said: “I am delighted by the enthusiasm generated by the Ware & Kay team. We are all very proud to be supporting this deserving charity and to encourage the community to join us in raising awareness.”
