I totally agree with Frances Ruane (Does the city centre need another cafe?, Letters, April 10).
Almost every week The Press reports the opening of another cafe/restaurant/bar, a new hotel to be built or a proposed conversion of an existing building to a hotel.
Surely we must be at saturation point for these businesses?
On a recent visit to Bruges we were informed that the city council has imposed a ban on further development of hotels in the city as they are trying to balance the needs of the residents with the tourists.
Perhaps we are heading towards the same situation in our own city?
