TEENAGERS took to the catwalk to showcase their creations at a sell-out fashion show.

All Saints RC School fashion and textiles students invited parents, friends and colleagues to the event at the Belmont Suite of Bettys.

Head teacher Sharron Keelan-Beardsley said: "I was delighted to be treated to an evening of haute couture in the lovely setting of Bettys' Belmont Room. Our students should be extremely proud of their beautiful creations. It was a truly memorable evening."

Hannah Ripley, assistant subject leader for design and technology, said the Year 10 students had showed off their skirt projects, demonstrating basic construction skills.

"The Year 11s have all developed very different final products including a tropical print skirt, child's dress, hoody dress with transfer print and CAD embroidery, a Japanese-inspired two-piece blouse and circle skirt and a powder blue playsuit with a hand embroidered collar," she added.

"The Year 12 students selected different contexts such as costume and environmental awareness. Their final pieces were creative and stunning.

"The Year 13 students finished the show with their spectacular yet very wearable outfits, which all demonstrated complex construction skills.

"The students were proud to showcase their own and each others' work on the catwalk, putting on a very enjoyable show in a beautiful location, where the guests enjoyed cakes and tea. We can't wait to start planning next year's show."

The show was part of York Fashion Week.

The textiles department at All Saints also worked with Browns York for the second year, with Year 13 A Level D&T Fashion and Textiles students displaying their work in the shop window.

Students worked alongside Emma Larkin, the store's visual merchandiser, to produce the window display with their own outfits, gaining an insight into one of the job roles within the industry.
