CROWDS lined the streets of York for the 2 Signal Regiment Freedom Parade.
The sun shone as city Lord Mayor, Cllr Keith Orrell, and the civic party joined York-based 2 Signal Regiment, a regiment of the Royal Corps of Signals in the British Army.
The march set off from the Mansion House at 10.40am on Wednesday and processed to Duncombe Place, where the town clerk read the Freedom Citation.
The regiment was granted the Freedom of the City in 2001, allowing it to march through the city with bayonets fitted and swords drawn.
Cllr Orrell said: “It is always an honour to be involved in the events organised by the armed services.
“The civic party has had a number of engagements with the Army over the last few months and we are always impressed by their efficiency and organisation.”
Sheriff Verna Campbell said taking the salute with the Lord Mayor was a "great privilege".
