A LOCAL day nursery has been rated 'outstanding' in its latest Ofsted report.

Puddleducks, in Sheriff Hutton, which was graded 'good' at its last inspection in 2013, was commended for its ongoing self-evaluation and services.

Its staff were also highly praised in the new report, as well as the nursery's special educational needs provision.

Manager Sarah Kelly, who was previously a primary teacher in York, opened Puddleducks in 2012, after realising how important good provision was while searching for a place for her eldest son.

She now has three children, but calls Puddleducks her "fourth baby".

Sarah said: "This report really captures the essence of our nursery, with our children and families at the heart of all we do.

"The team is extremely proud of this achievement, especially with the goal posts for the outstanding judgment constantly changing and expectations being raised year on year.

"It really is a testament to my team, who make our nursery the very special place it is."
