A YORK shop is supporting a new campaign to end period poverty.

Campaigner Ella Daish(based in Cardiff) set up the Eco Period Box scheme last year and has now joined up with Tulliver's, in King's Square.

The idea is for people to donate a range of eco sanitary products, which Tullivers stocks, in an effort to end plastic waste.

The box will be at the shop during April and any donations collected will be given to Kyra Women's Project, a York charity that helps local women make positive changes.

Many young girls and women are affected by period poverty and cannot afford to buy sanitary products.

Ella said: "I set up the Eco Period Box to address period poverty in a way that I feel truly benefits all.

"Plastic-free products and re-usables are not only better for the people using them, but they also have a minimal environmental impact, which is really important."
