YORK Omnium Festival of Cycling has announced an action-packed line-up of events for this summer.

This year, the festival will take place on Saturday, June 8 at the renowned York Sport Village in the grounds of the University of York, near Grimston Bar.

The annual event is aimed at keen cyclists, bike clubs and spectators alike and has been designed for everyone who loves bike racing, but is frustrated by the 'blink and miss it' experience of ordinary road races.

Men and women will compete on a purpose built 1km cycle circuit, over three race formats.

The short circuit favours racers with a diverse skillset and spectators can expect lots of sprinting, break-aways and tactical powerplay.

Street food favourites, local beverages and sound-system entertainment will also be on offer.

Information for riders and spectators, volunteering opportunities across a range of areas, and ticket details can be found at yorkomnium.com and britishcycling.org.uk

Cycling fans can also look forward to this year's Tour de Yorkshire, which takes place from May 2-5.
