I WAS delighted to see young people go on strike to halt climate change and that City of York Council have declared a “climate emergency”. People power can work!
Climate change is a global issue, as recent events have so amply demonstrated.
Well, we can start doing something in York by having a joined-up approach to reducing car emissions in the city, which is already an acknowledged problem, and reducing the number of vehicles allowed in the city and public areas.
Keeping vehicles out of our beautiful city should be the aim.
What we need is a council with the vision to come up with a plan - and perhaps The Press to lead a campaign!
I am a car owner and getting on for 80 but feel passionate about saving our wonderful planet for future generations.
