STUDENTS are cleaning up their school’s grounds as part of a national initiative.
Tadcaster Grammar School pupils are participating in the Great Big School Clean, which is part of Keep Britain Tidy’s annual Great British Spring Clean – the largest mass litter pick in the country. The school’s clean-up got underway on Monday and will last for two weeks.
Tadcaster Grammar will report back to Keep Britain Tidy on how many people took part, how many minutes they picked up litter for, how many bags of litter were collected and what type of litter was collected.
The school is asking its ‘Litter Heroes’ in each form to separate the items they collect into three bags - one for plastic bottles, one for aluminium cans and another for general waste, so as much as possible can be recycled:
The pupils will compete in ‘houses’, and the house that collects the most rubbish will win sweet treats for each form.
