A NEW indoor soft play centre - with ninja and parkour activities - will be built near York.

Plans for the adventure play park, which will also have a cafe and a gym, were approved by councillors.

A former office and warehouse at Millfield Business Centre near Nether Poppleton will be turned into a new leisure venue for families.

Planning documents say the centre will be accessible for disabled children and there will also be activities for teenagers and adults, including a sports area and car track.

Paul Spencer, from company London Ebor which owns the buildings, said: “This is going to give an old building a chance of a new life.”

The new gym would have 52 parking spaces and open from 6am to 10pm on weekdays and 7am to 8pm on weekends. The indoor play centre is set to have 75 parking spaces.

The plans were approved by a majority at a meeting on March 20.

The application says the activity centre could be designed by leisure company House of Play.
