UB40 are set to celebrate 40 glittering years in Venue Cymru this spring.

Britain’s premiere reggae extraordinaires will head to Llandudno as part of a 40-date UK tour to perform their 2018 release For the Many live in April .

Catching the Birmingham firebrands has never been more timely, with the band's polemic brand of reggae presenting a vital commentary on the politics of the day. With two iterations of UB40 currently touring the band’s unique sound, with former lead singer Ali Campbell doing the rounds as UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue, it's also never been a better time to be a fan.

This line-up features founding members Robin Campbell on vocals, Brian Travers on saxophone, drummer Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer on keys and Norman Hassan on percussion as well as long standing members Martin Meredith, Laurence Parry, Tony Mullings and third Campbell brother Duncan.

Singer Duncan Campbell said, “After ten years of fronting UB40, for us to do an album of our own original material feels like this is the final hurdle for me.”

Their latest release release, named after Jeremy Corbyn’s 2017 general election slogan, is appropriately political for the band whose name was taken from an unemployment for in 1978.

Campbell added: “We all feel this album is an album going back to what UB40 was all about. We are all excited for everybody to hear the album and looking forward to touring it.”

UB40 will showcase songs from For The Many alongside many of their seventeen UK Top 10 hit singles, including Kingston Town, Food For Thought, One In Ten, I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You, Don’t Break My Heart and Sing Our Own Song and, of course, Red, Red Wine.

To catch the band, head to Venue Cymru on Tuesday, April 16 2019 at 8pm.
