A BRAND new residential care home in York has moved one step closer to opening after they announced a new Home Manager.

Handley House, which is due to open its doors next month, will be welcoming Home Manager Rachel McNally, who recently joined the team, to work alongside General Manager Michael Gledhill.

The care home, which is located on the site of the Handley Page RAF repair site on Green Lane in Clifton, will provide a home for 66 residents.

The home is currently being constructed by specialist care home developer, LNT Care Developments, and once open will be the 18th home for established care provider, Ideal Carehomes.

Mrs McNally said that she is particularly excited to be aboard the Handley House and will be working hard to establish the home as a fundamental part of the local York community.

Rachel said:“I am thrilled to be joining Handley House at this significant time meaning I am involved right from the start.

"I am extremely passionate about person-centred care and we have already started to recruit our dedicated staff team who will help me put everything in place to make Handley House a great place to live and work.”

Lisa Harding, Regional Director at Ideal Carehomes, said she was delighted to have Rachel onboard.

She said: “Having Rachel join the team is an exciting step in the progress of our new home. She is compassionate and caring and puts her residents first so I know that Handley House will be in very capable hands when it opens.”

Rachel said: “The building is on track to open next month and it is looking fantastic already. You can already get a feel for the bright and airy social areas and the spacious bedrooms. Also the history of the site is extremely interesting and we feel really lucky to be able to have our home in such an extraordinary location.”

Handley House is due to open in April 2019 and will hold open days where visitors can meet the staff, enjoy a guided tour around the brand new home and view potential rooms.

The state-of-the-art home will have an onsite hair salon with café area, cinema, garden lounge plus a lavish Sky bar and landscaped gardens for residents and their visitors to enjoy. There will be a full and varied programme of activities and trips available all with an inclusive fee to provide complete peace of mind.
