Last year's York and District Table Tennis League division one runners-up Holgate A started the new season strongly with a 9-1 win over Holgate B.
John Farmery and Tony Reed were successful in their singles and also combined to win a close doubles.
Champions Bootham A found things tougher against Malton A before winning 7-3. Paul Eastwood was unbeaten.
In division two, Coneysthorpe B have dropped just one set in their two opening games.
They toppled Holgate C 9-1, with Paul Cresswell undefeated. They then whitewashed Holgate E. Mike Fenby was unbeaten in both matches.
Holgate E had earlier gone down 7-3 to fellow promoted side Bootham B.
Railway C' have begun the season with two hard-fought 6-4 wins.
First they downed Holgate D, with Luke Blackburn scoring three and then beat Poppleton.
