I AM amazed at the recent polls in The Press suggesting citizens have a lack of confidence in police community support officers (PCSOs).
I am an officer of our residents' association in Nunnery Lane, and have had nothing but praise for their work within our area.
I reckon we have one of the best teams - Sergeant Anne Brannon, PC Scott, PC Wright and our bunch of heroes are trying to make a difference to people in the South Bank area. We should support them and give them a chance.
I, and many others, have seen a difference in the area. Inspector Khan and his officers came round on a walkabout recently, and only later I found out they came on their rest day. So there is commitment throughout the police service.
What about our commitment to support these PCSOs, and show them the respect they deserve, trying to do the job, whatever their powers are at present? Note the word present - things may change in the future.
