EMERGENCY services have been called to a crash on Hull Road.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We were called to Hull Road, York at around 12.05pm following a two vehicle collision at the location.

"The cars collided at the junction of Melrosegate and involved a grey Vauxhall Mokka and a grey Skoda Octavia.

"Ambulance crews also attended the scene and two people injured in the collision were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or the events surrounding it is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police quoting reference 12190039635."

In a tweet, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said that they cut free a women from one of the vehicles. 

They said: "York and Acomb firecrews have used hydraulic cutting equipment to release a female trapped in car following a 2 car RTC on Melrosegate, York, following notification from Police."

In a tweet York Travel said that there is currently no access on the junction from Hull Road onto Melrosegate and Green Dykes Lane.
