A MAN'S body was found on an embankment next to the A64 near York.
At the time, North Yorkshire Police could not confirm the exact nature of the incident, but pictures from the scene showed four police vans and rapid response vehicles from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service parked close to the underpass.
On Tuesday, a police spokeswoman said police were originally contacted by a cyclist "regarding the concern for safety of a man".
The spokeswoman said: "The man was seen on the embankment near to the bridge on Murton Way which goes over the A64 by a cyclist passing the location. Ambulance crews also attended the scene and the man was pronounced dead.
"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death but at this time there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. Anyone who has information which may assist officers is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101."
The spokeswoman said formal identification had not yet taken place, and police were unable to confirm the man's age or name at this time.
