THE headline to A V Martin’s excellent lead letter on February 22 described the Guildhall as a ‘global treasure’.
Mr Martin actually described York itself in those terms when he wrote about the ‘public-spirited citizens who made our city the global treasure that it is today’.
When will this city receive due acknowledgement and recognition of its standing as a ‘global treasure’ by receiving the accolade of World Heritage status? Then it really will have arrived.
