YORK youth homelessness charity SASH is calling on local residents and businesses to support its annual sleepout, which takes place this year in the grounds of Bootham School on Friday April 5.
Community fundraiser Jenna Goodridge says the event will raise vital funds to help 16-25 year olds in York and surrounding areas avoid homelessness.
"Participants raise sponsorship by spending the night outside with just a sleeping bag and cardboard for shelter," she said.
"Our volunteers do a fantastic job opening up their homes to welcome these young people and keep them safe when they have nowhere to go, but we also need funds to keep our services going.
"This year SASH is aiming to raise £12,000 through the Sleepout so we want as many people taking part as possible.
"York estate Agents Hudson Moody are putting a team together to take part this year."
