VOLUNTEER models will take to the catwalk for a charity fashion show in aid of York Against Cancer.

The event, on March 2, is being held by Dunnington Cancer Support Group.

June Rickell, Marie Todd, Carol Martin and Sue Moore, all pictured, are among those behind the event to be held at Dunnington Reading Rooms.

The sold-out show will see 10 women, four men and four children modelling outfits donated to the group’s charity shop in the village.

All the clothes modelled will be available to buy, alongside rails of other garments for all occasions and a range of great accessories.

The Dunnington Cancer Support Group has been running for half a century and has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds over that time, much of it for York Against Cancer.

Last year members presented £18,000 to the charity from shop sales and events including the group’s monthly jumble sales and their twice-yearly coffee mornings.

Carol Martin said the event would be their third fashion show.

“We have got some fantastic clothes,” she said. “They are well-known brands and some of them are new with labels still attached! We have always been very well supported and this year we have no tickets left so we are hoping that we might even beat the £1,000 we raised last time.”
