A TEACHER from Copmanthorpe Primary School has won high praise from parents and students.

Karen Stanford, a lower school teacher, was the winner of the Kip McGrath Awesome Teacher Awards having received the most nominations from parents and pupils across the city.

Ruth Hardy, of Kip McGrath York West Centre, said: “In a time where as a country we have a crisis in terms of teacher recruitment we feel it is important to recognise and cherish the teachers we have in York that work so hard to do a fantastic job.

“It’s clear Mrs Stanford works incredibly hard to do an amazing job which is appreciated by both parents and students.

“Mrs Stanford won £100 John Lewis gift voucher, flowers and doughnuts to share with all staff at Copmanthorpe as they all do a great job.”

Kip McGrath York West and East tutor students from six to 18 in English and Maths.
