POLICE have closed their investigation into an accident involving a York bin lorry in which a binman was seriously injured, and will not be bringing any charges.
The man, in his 50s, was airlifted by Yorkshire Air Ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary after the accident,which happened during a waste collection round in Rainsborough Way, near Water Lane, Clifton, on January 4.
North Yorkshire Police said at the time it was investigating a report of a serious collision between a bin lorry and a man.
It says now that its investigation has concluded without any evidence to bring criminal proceedings and has been closed.
James Gilchrist, assistant director for transport, highways and environment at City of York Council, said its investigation into the incident was still ongoing.
“We continue to provide support to everyone involved, including the family, who have asked for their privacy to be respected," he added.
