WORK began today as part of a £1.1million upgrade to The Stonebow, Fossgate and Pavement.
City of York council said that the street will be closed for six weeks to improve the appearance and character of York as well as to create a more pedestrian-friendly environment and improve access for pedestrians and cyclists.First York said that they are expecting delays up until Wednesday.
A spokesman said: “We are expecting some delays, especially Monday - Wednesday February 18-20, as roadworks on the Walmgate Junction have over run. Our experienced teams will be working hard, working with City of York Council Network Monitoring Officers to minimise delays to you where possible. Please allow additional time for your journeys.”
“Departure time from all keys stops except diverted portions of routes will stay the same, buses that normally stop at Stonebow, 6, 9, 11, 12, 14, will call at Clifford Street, there will be approximate departure times available on Clifford Street stops from February18 and real time information from February 20.
