The bomb squad descended on Cookham yesterday after a suspected unexploded tank round was found in the woods.
Mill Lane was shut on Sunday while the Royal Logistic Corps from RAF Northolt inspected the device, which was found in woodland.
Police said the ordnance was suspected to be an "old 18 pounder or 75mm tank round" and a cordon was set up.
The bomb squad was x-rayed twice and was found to be a solid lump and not live.
The ordnance was taken to Maidenhead Golf Course, who let bomb disposal officers stage a controlled explosion in one of their bunkers.
