A MUSICIAN has had the length of his sentence for sex crimes reduced by the Court of Appeal.

The other parts of Jason William Flanagan's sentence for two offences of having indecent images of children remain unaltered.

Flanagan, 32, who gave addresses in Huntington and Clifton to York magistrates when he appeared before them in 2017, was sentenced to 21 months' imprisonment suspended for two years in March 2018.

He was also ordered to do 120 hours' unpaid work and 20 days' rehabilitative activities tackling his sexual activities and was given a sexual harm prevention order enabling police to monitor his use of the internet for 10 years.

He appealed against his sentence to the Court of Appeal.

Three judges of appeal reduced the prison term to 10 and a half months suspended for two years.

York Crown Court heard in 2018 that police found videos of children being abused on Flanagan's computer equipment and search terms that he had been using to find sexual images of children on the internet.

His barrister Glenn Parsons said he was ashamed and that his involvement with the illegal material was short lived.
