THE team at York Rescue Boat are encouraging people to wear orange an donate £1 to their cause.

On Friday, March 22 or Saturday, March 23 the group of volunteers who patrol York's waterways want people to Go Orange to raise cash for their coffers.

Rachel Lacy, York operations manager, said: "If orange is not your colour, and you want something more discrete, we sell charity wristbands, pin badges, cufflinks and other merchandise on our website https://www.yorkrescueboat.com

"Hosting a non-uniform day at your school or work is simple and we can

provide collection pots and information leaflets and stickers as well as

having posters you can download or request printed copies.

"You can also send and share your pictures on the day, and we will share and help promote you and your business via our social media.

"With help from the public we aim to raise as much of our yearly running costs (approximately £21,000) over two days, allowing the rest of the funds we raise across the year to be invested in training and equipment to further develop our lifesaving service.

"If you would like to sign up your group, school, college or business to

support us please contact us at info@yorkrescueboat.com"

York Rescue Boat was set up in 2014, in response to a number of river
