I simply cannot believe the routes that buses from the east side of York are taking during the six week closure of Stonebow. This must easily be adding 10 to 15 minutes to a journey.

Are buses going to lay on extra services during this time? Or are bus services going to allow pensioners to use their bus passes earlier?

I am a pensioner but still have to work as I cannot afford to live on a state pension and get things done to my home on top of bills.

But it looks as though when I have a 9.30am start in my job that I will not be able to use my bus pass to get into work.

I refuse to pay each time for six weeks. I used to ride a bike until a motorist caused a bad injury that now no longer enables me to do so.

Why not turn at Layerthorpe on to Heworth Green and go into town via Monkgate, Lord Mayors Walk, Gillygate and St Leonard’s Place, then into town?

St Leonard’s Place must be as near to the city centre as Clifford Street is.

I will try a bus on my 9.30am start - ie when I am allowed to use my bus pass - and if it doesn’t get me to work on time then I can blame City of York Council and First York/Aviva and Coastliner for the routes they are taking.

Also one has to wonder how many small businesses like the paper shop in Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma Gate will lose trade?
