Once again The Press has highlighted the state of disrepair of the footpaths in York (Time for action on Goodramgate paving, Letters, February 13).
In his letter, John Parkinson describes the fall of his wife, a visit to the A&E and a further six to eight weeks of recovery time.
The pavements in York are in such a bad state of repair that cyclists are now having to ride on the roads and risk the potholes.
If an ambulance had been required the cost would have been considerable.
Perhaps if City of York Council had to pay towards the treatment of the injured parties - ie the ambulance and hospital charges - it might be more inclined to repair the footpaths and roads in York.
