ACROSS the country, Brits are turning their living rooms into their new exercise hot spot, with almost 70 per cent favouring alternative workout locations than more expensive gyms, according to new research commissioned by TalkTalk.

This growing trend of training at home is supported by a large number of free apps, online exercise videos and activity trackers, that rely on fast, stable and reliable Wi-Fi connections to allow people to exercise in the comfort of their homes.

York’s Ultra Fibre Optic (UFO) from TalkTalk is rolling out a next generation, city-wide full-fibre network and, if you live in York, you’ll soon be able to (if you can’t already) enjoy lightning-fast speeds of up to one Gigabit per second (1000Mb/s).

With 26 per cent of 18 to 34-year-olds admitting they have experienced frustration over exercise videos or apps freezing as a result of poor internet connection, residents in Dringhouses, Woodthorpe, Chapelfields, Foxwood, and parts of Holgate, are now able to stream workout videos seamlessly, and easily connect multiple devices all at the same time with York’s UFO.

The network is up to 20 times faster than the UK’s average ‘fibre’, and is powerful enough to withstand all the usage you can throw at it, no matter how many devices are connected at once.

York’s Ultra Fibre Optic from TalkTalk costs £27.50 per month for 18 months (offer ends March 14 2019) and is available to homes in Dringhouses, Woodthorpe, Foxwood, Chapelfields, parts of Holgate, Rawcliffe, Clifton, Huntington, New Earswick, and parts of The Groves. It will be available to 55,000 homes and businesses across the city once the project is completed. To find out if you can connect to UFO, go to talktalk.co.uk/ufo and enter your postcode.
