A THUG who is a “danger” to girlfriends has been jailed after beating his latest partner on New Year’s Eve.

The victim was the third woman to suffer at the hands of Lee Anthony Hamilton, York Crown Court heard.

He injured and threatened to kill one previous partner in 2012 and in 2016 disclosed sexual photos of a second previous partner, the court was told.

On New Year’s Eve, Hamilton gave his latest girlfriend such a beating she hid under the bed to escape from him and later went to hospital.

Within hours, he attacked her again, this time in the street and threw her bicycle.

Judge Simon Hickey told Hamilton: “You are a violent man in drink. You are a danger to female partners.”

Hamilton, 28, of Nunnery Lane, York, pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm, assault and criminal damage to the third girlfriend’s bicycle.

He denied a charge of criminal damage to her mobile phone which the prosecution accepted because although it was damaged during the first attack, Hamilton had not intended to damage it.

Hamilton was jailed for 20 months and made subject to a restraining order, banning him from contacting the woman by any means or through a third party for the next five years.

His barrister Glenn Parsons said he was remorseful and had problems controlling his temper.

The judge said Hamilton and his latest girlfriend had been drinking during the afternoon of New Year’s Eve.

Hamilton became aggressive, grabbed the woman, banged her against a wall and kicked her as he shouted at her and beat her up.

She hid under the bed and suspected she had a broken rib.

Her young daughter saw her after the attack, which left her with head and body injuries and a bleeding eye.

In 2013, the same court heard how Hamilton hit his then girlfriend’s hip as she lay in bed and her jaw. As she phoned 999 he threatened to kill her.

He had been drinking heavily for 10 hours.

Giving him an 18-month prison sentence suspended for two years, Recorder James Hill QC said: “I am concerned you could misbehave in a future relationship.”
