LEEMAN Road is to close near Memorial Gardens for flood defence work to take place.
The road will be shut overnight between February 18 and March 1 between its junction with Station Avenue and The Esplanade car park, before closing from April 29 until October 31 so the work can be carried out in phases.
The Environment Agency has applied for planning permission to create a new 0.7m-high flood wall in Memorial Gardens as well as two demountable barriers at the main and second entrances to the gardens and a new 0.8m-high flood embankment.
An alternative route for traffic will be signposted while work is carried out.
