YORK Shakespeare Project is looking for performers to take part in Sonnet Walks 2019 in and around the city centre from May 10 to 18 as part of the York Shakespeare International Festival.

The walks will be directed by Mick Taylor, who will hold auditions for those wanting to be involved at Southlands Methodist Church, Bishopthorpe Road, York, on Wednesday, February 20 from 7.30pm to 9pm and Sunday, February 24 from 2pm to 4pm.

"These are open auditions, so we’d be pleased to see anyone at all who's interested in getting involved," says producer Maurice Crichton. "We hope to assemble a balanced cast: a good mix of age, gender and different levels of experience."

For a 15-minute audition slot, send an email to maurice.crichton@ntlworld.com. "If you're keen to get involved but can’t attend, do get in touch anyway and we'll try to find another time to see you. Commitment, playfulness and enthusiasm are the key."

YSP's Sonnet Walks will set off from the York Theatre Royal café terrace at 6pm and 6.20pm for evening performances and 12 noon and 12.20pm for Saturday matinees. Dress rehearsal walks will take place on May 9; walks will follow on May 10; May 11 matinee and evening; May 14 to 17 and May 18, matinee and evening.
