AN elderly man was rescued from the river by firefighters.
Crews from York and Acomb fire stations were called at about 12.30pm on Saturday to Ferry Lane in Bishopthorpe.
A spokesman said the man's boat had broken down in the middle of the River Ouse and firefighters helped him to safety.
