A FLOOD alert has been issued for the River Ouse in York.
An Environment Agency warning says the river's levels are forecast to rise on Saturday, February 9, as a result of recent persistent rainfall.
It said: "The Ouse at Naburn upstream of the weir is at 1.5m, and in York is currently at 1.4m and rising.
"The river level is expected to continue to rise overnight and is forecast to peak in York towards mid-day on Saturday, February 9, below 2.7m.
"We can expect river levels in Naburn to remain high throughout Saturday morning. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. We are closely monitoring the situation."
Meanwhile, a weather warning for strong winds has been issued for York.
